Snowmobiling Wyoming

After 11 hours on the road, we suddenly begin to see some snow as we ascend the mountainous road from Dubois Wyoming. All signs indicated deep snow!
My Dad and I finally arrived at the Togwotee Mountain Lodge and then settled into our cozy cabin to rest up for the night.
The next morning was cool and sunny with some welcomed snow. We fueled up the snowmobiles and hit the throttle.
The landscape was beautiful and immense.
We spent the last 3 days of February zipping around the vast meadows, valleys, hills, and forest trails.
What an adventure!

Across Wyoming

A few weeks ago, I took a plane to meet up with my dad in Pierre, South Dakota.
When I arrived, we prepared for a long westward drive and set out at dawn.
Our destination...The Togwotee Mountain Lodge, a Wyoming haven for snowmobiling.
We covered just under 700 miles in about 11 hours with two snowmobiles in tow.
The Wyoming landscape is open and mostly treeless with frequent views of mountains on the horizon. My dad at the wheel, I was free to gaze out the window and occasionally see a herd of antelope, some eagles, and of course, many horses.

Lunar Spectacle

Last night's sub-zero temps yielded a nice crisp view of the lunar eclipse.
Despite frozen fingers, Theresa and I managed to get a few shots of the waning shadow.

Milla has a ball

The preceeding two photos of my mom's dog were shot at available evening daylight.
I then decided to add a remotely triggered off-camera flash for a bit of drama.
Oh, and I also underexposed the ambient light so those clouds would really pop.
It helps to have such a charismatic subject.

Congratulations to this charming couple who were married this past Saturday.
The sparkle of champagne, the glow of the candles;
The historic Tabard Inn in the heart of DC was a wonderful setting for this intimate family wedding.
Not to mention, the kids added a lively touch to the place.

Frog Blog

This past weekend, I visited National Geographic Museum exhibition "Face to Face with Frogs: The Photographs of Mark Moffett" and "Frogs! A Chorus of Colors" (January 25 through May 11).
Mark Moffett will be hosting a special lecture in the Grosvenor Auditorium of the National Geographic Society in DC.
The show is called "Army Ants, Orchids, and Dancing Frogs"

My favorites are the Poison Dart Frogs.
These little guys are packed with color!

Here's a Waxy Monkey Frog Phyllomedusa sauvagii basking in the warmth of a lamp.
These frogs like it HOT. They seal in moisture by giving themselves a rubdown with a waxy substance secreted through skin glands. Climbing to an exposed perch, they draw in their arms and legs and sleep in the sun. They awaken and hunt at night when the air temperature and the rate of water loss are lower.

Bethesda Bridal Show

We just attended the Bethesda Bridal Show this past Sunday. There were several hundred brides in attendance. Thank you to all the brides who stopped by our booth. We had a really great time mingling and sharing our work. The presentation looked great. Our pictures were displayed as a slideshow across two monitors, as well as albums by Leathercraftsmen and Willowbook. We also brought our companion books and proof magazines to show. For a bit of interactive fun, we set up our Self-Portait PhotoBooth and the "brides to be" jumped in with their friends to take their own photo! The show was a success!

Caroline O'Neill just launched her new website for her Massage Therapy Studio! The site looks great and the massage is even better. A little about Caroline's background "In February 2007, I graduated from Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington DC.. PMTI has been teaching and inspiring students for over 30 years. My training there was thorough, detailed, challenging, thought provoking, and enhanced my self-awareness to a new level. I love learning about the human body and how I can improve my everyday life. Massage is a wonderful, relaxing experience and I now understand the importance of it in maintaining a healthy, positive life. I am also a graduate of Greensboro College in North Carolina where I got my BA in Theater Performance with a dance minor. I am a professional actor in the Washington DC area."
